How Talking to Someone Can Help
Put things in perspective. If you’ve been keeping things to yourself, a situation might seem more overwhelming than it actually is. Talk to someone outside the situation as they maybe more neutral about what’s going on because the outcome won’t affect him or her personally. Just “getting the problem out” can help you feel better and release built-up tension.
Talk to anyone you trust, this could be a friend, family member, teacher or counselor.
If you’re facing a crisis and need help immediately, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. Trained volunteers are available 24/7. For more information on who can help you might also want to check out the Get Help section.
